A Thank You from Brenda

It’s a tremendous honor to continue representing my hometown in the Connecticut General Assembly.

I’m incredibly grateful for my friends and family who dedicated so much of their time and energy. Those of us who serve the public know that our families sacrifice a great deal for us to be able to do this work. I’m very grateful for my husband Peter for holding down the fort while I campaigned over the last several months and the last two years while I worked for Fairfield in Hartford.

Peter works very hard and always puts our family first.

I count myself lucky to have such a dedicated friend in Alexa Mullady who helped me every single day giving up time with her family to stand with me every step of the way.

My treasurer, Bill Domeika, who took care of the finances, the website, and frankly a lot of details that came up and Casey Larkins and Dorothy Domeika for walking with me all over the district. I’m thankful for Dennis Polio and Rob Russo for their organizational work and Dennis for always jumping in when I needed an extra hand.

My very dear friend, Paul Pimentel, while busy with a new job in a new state, still dedicated his time to help.

Special Thanks to my biggest fan, my Dad, Len Benton who always believes in me and railed the troops. My Mom, Geri and mother in law, Yolanda who helped me with clerical duties and for my Mom for providing home cooked meals. My friends John McKinney and Jamie Millington who are both like family and are always there for me.

There were so many people who walked with me, kept up with the sign requests and made calls, sharing my message of common sense government.

I want to thank my brothers, Brad and Bill, my step mother, Caroline, my nieces, Allie and Gianna, Betsi & Chris Shays, Rep. Larry Cafero, Bryan Sundie, John Healy, Rep. Jason Perillo, George Gallo, Tom McCarthy, Steve Elworthy, Evaristo Lobato, The Flynn and Leclerc families, Ron Pine, Eric Sundman, Michael and Melissa Herley, Joe Palmer, Pam Iacona, Jill Kelly, Craig Massaro, Chris Catropa, Jon Crovo, Erika Lee Pocock, Beth Welch, the Muthersbaugh Family, the Brown Girls, Kevin Kiley, Justin Nowicki and Matt Morrissey from Fairfield University.

I’m truly blessed to have so many amazing friends and a wonderful family who dedicated their time and believe in me. It’s an amazing gift that fills my heart.

I want to acknowledge my opponent; Sue Brand for running a race based on ideas not personal attacks. Campaigns should be about real issues, ideas, voting and attendance records not character assignation. I also want to recognize Chris DeSanctis who was the subject of wrongful attacks. Chris and his wife are good and decent people and I’m proud to call them my friends.

I care deeply about public service and believe it’s important for my constituents to have their voices heard in their government. I’ve worked very hard to share information with my district and hope my constituents will continue to contact me with concerns, ideas or questions about legislation or help with a state related problem.

I strive to listen, learn and lead on issues that are important to the people of Fairfield and Southport and will work hard to earn the trust you’ve placed in me.
